COMPUTERS

You can download the presentation here:

And these are the practices we are doing these days:

ELECTRONICS

Great article and video about diodes and LEDs (Spanish): ¿Por qué iluminan los LEDs gastando tan poco?

These are the practices of electronics that we are doing in the workshop:

1. Identifyng electronic components

2. Using the multimeter

Here you have the video to learn how to measure electrical magnitudes with the multimeter, the transcription of the video and the practice:

3. Different types of resistors

4. Diodes

Practice with standard diodes and LEDs:

5. Transistor

Practice 8.40: Basic circuits with transistors:

Practice 8.4: LED controlled by an LDR

6. Simulating electronic circuits with your mobile phone

HISTORY OF TECHNOLOGY

Inventors and inventions
In this presentation we will learn how Edison contributed to the development of the incandescent light bulb (Thanks, Kenneth!):

After watching the presentation we will work on this worksheet about inventors and inventions:

PROJECTS

The workshop is a special classroom, with many materials, tools and machines. That is why it is very important to follow some special rules that complement the ones we have in the rest of the school. Here you have them:

In this worksheet you will find some activities related to the steps to do a project and to build a wooden object:

After identifying the requirements (step 1), researching about them (step 2) and designing a solution for them (step 3), this is the process sheet we use to do the planning in our projects:

ELECTRICAL CIRCUITS

First, let's review what you studied in 1st year:

After studying the previous documents, we will do the following practices with the program Crocodile Clips: Practices with Crocodile Clips (practices based on the ones made by Manuel Torres; check his blog for information about these practices and the program Crocodile Clipshttp://elprofesormanuel.wordpress.com/2011/01/27/crocodile-clips-tecnologia-3%C2%BA-e-s-o/).

GRAPHICAL EXPRESSION

Technicians use the graphical expression as a way to communicate ideas, as we do when we start a new project in the workshop: we will draw very accurately the object we want to make. That is why we are learning how to draw objects using cavalier and isometric perspectives. At the end of this unit you will have to have in your notebook at least the drawing of the following objects (and of every other object that your teacher has asked you):
  • The views of a chair and of any piece of furniture at your home (front, top and left side views)
  • Cavalier and isometric perspective of a cube, a chair, a cylinder and any piece of furniture at your home.
  • Isometric of the objects whose views are shown in the following files: isometrica 1 | isometrica 2 | isometrica 3

After doing all these activities, you will be able to draw a good design for your project using cavalier or isometric perspective!

OBJECT ANALYSIS

We start the activities analyzing some of the technological objects around us. Here it is explained how to do it:
Technology and Society - Object Analysis
