PROJECTS IN THE WORKSHOP

Before you start your project, you need to know:
Some documents you will need for your project:

1st project: photo frame / desk organizer (individual)

Your first project will be individual and you will have to choose between a photo frame, a desk organizer and a tangram game.
Here we have the first pictures of your projects!

And these are some of your best projects, considering both the object and the report (research, design, planning, evaluation):
Nadia S:
Leyre G:
Francisco G:

Carlos F:
Carlos E:
Alberto E:

2nd project: crane / drawbridge (in groups)

Working in teams and following the steps in a project, you will have to make a model of a crane or drawbridge and write the report of your work.
You can see the pictures of your projects in the same slideshow as the rest of the classes: click here

TECHNICAL DRAWING

These are some of the activities we did in this unit.
Instruments and materials for drawing
Scales in a drawing and vocabulary

And all other activities about the views of an object (they were explained in the blackboard).

HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE

These are the documents with the theory and the activities about the hardware and software in a computer:

In the following word search you will practice with the vocabulary related to hardware and software:
HW&SW - Word search

MATERIALS, WOOD AND METALS

First it is necessary to differentiate between materials, the raw materials they come from and the technological objects we made from them. Do the activities in the following document:
Raw materials, materials and technological products

What are the main characteristics of the materials? Why is wood used so often? Learn all these things and more in the following presentations:

STRUCTURES

In this PRESENTATION we learn what a structure is, what characteristics it should have and the most important types of structures.
You can download the complete presentation in this link (you don't need to do it if you have Internet access at home: you can watch the presentation here whenever you want, so we don't waste so much paper). And remember: be careful with bridges!!!

In this unit you will do an easy PROJECT as homework: you will make two structures with the shape of a cube.
structures- cubes project.doc
When we have all of these cubes we will make an experiment to check their ressistance to compression forces!

Finally, as homework, you will have to TAKE TWO PICTURES of two differenct types of structures in objects or buildidngs around us. here you have the instructions to do it:
Homework - Take a picture of 2 structures.doc

That's not all, folks! Now let's demolish some structures with this online GAME:

Review the TYPES OF STRUCTURES in this presentation

ENERGY

We are all dismayed with the situation in Japan. In this work we will try to find out what has happened in Japan, especially in Fukushima nuclear plant:
Earthquake in Japan

ELECTRICAL CIRCUITS

We start this very important unit with the BASICS OF ELECTRICITY AND ELECTRICAL CIRCUITS:

And now listen and correct it! Thank you, Cassandra!!

  • Read about the different types of switches that you can find in a circuit: Types of switches
  • Activities about electrical circuits: first answer the questions in your notebook and then simulate the circuits using Crocodile Clips: Practices with Crocodile Clips
